I found some peacock feathers in a bric-a-brac shop. I loved the shape and pattern of them. I thought they would be a good subject for a line drawing as they are made up of hundreds of tiny line structures. I kept the negative shapes and the glass jar very light and loose in contrast to the structured feathers.
I set up the compostition in a couple of ways before I started drawing – see above. I rejected the set up where the feathers looked like a pair of eyes as I felt this detracted from the beauty of the feathers.
