I am now keen to try and develop a more relaxed, spontaneous and playful approach to creating. I am actually finding this rather a challenge. I think this is because I have spent so many years at work and life trying to be a responsible adult, this aspect of living has been rather lost. Joining a programme of study also made me feel (before I started) that I would have to follow certain guidelines and rules to succeed. However, I am beginning to realise that any degree of success in my art work needs to come from me producing work that I actually enjoy creating. Working with that enjoyment to develop my own skills. Experimentation is also a key. I am trying to research ‘playfulness’ as a way of developing further. This is actually harder than it sounds (for me)!
